Expeller pressing of passion fruit seed oil: Pressing efficiency and quality of oil

نویسندگان

چکیده

Abstract The passion fruit juice production generates around 70% of by-products comprising rind, seeds and arils that are commonly discarded. consist 4% weight with the potential to produce 2,500 ton/year high added-value oil in Brazil. In this work, from different manufacturers effect seed moisture were evaluated towards quality extraction efficiency, using a continuous expeller press 100 kg/h capacity. washed dried before pressing. main fatty acids detected linoleic (67% 68%), oleic (16% 17.4%) palmitic (11%). recovery depended on content, i.e., pressing provenances seeds. Significant differences observed for oxidative stability, acidity conjugated dienes (p < 0.05) oils manufacturers. Among them, only one met requirements Brazilian regulation regarding (less than 2%), thus indicating need an effective waste treatment process after extraction. Regarding moisture, highest Oil Stability Index (OSI) (7.4 h) lowest free acid content (0.63%) obtained content. varied 78% 89% cake was lower 8% showing elements feasibility obtain good oil.

Hemp (Cannabis sativa L.) is an annual plant that has been bred for centuries and its main products are hemp seeds and fibers. Fibers from the stalk are still used in production of durable fabrics and specialty papers, such as paper money, tea bags, canvas, linen, cigarette paper, and other strong, thin papers used to make thick books, like the Holy Bible1. Physicochemical studies of hemp (Cannabis sativa) seed oil using enzyme-assisted cold-pressing

The effects of enzyme-assisted cold-pressing (EACP) on the physicochemical attributes of Cannabis sativa (hemp) seed oil were investigated using five enzyme preparations: Protex 7L, Viscozyme L, Kemzyme, Feedzyme, and Natuzyme. The oil contents (28.4–32.8%) offered by the enzyme-treated hempseeds were found to be significantly (p ,0.05) higher than that determined for the control (26.7%). The p...
